Nchanga Racquets Club successfully hosted the 2026 Nchanga Open Squash Tournament, bringing together top players from across the Copperbelt and highlighting strong collaboration between KCM, Mineral Link, and SAZ in promoting sports development and youth empowerment.

Nchanga Racquets/Squash Club, supported by Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, successfully hosted the 2026 Nchanga Open Squash Tournament from 5–7 June, with sponsorship from Mineral Link.

The tournament attracted players from across the Copperbelt Province, serving as a key platform for competition, networking, and the continued development of squash in Zambia.

Speaking at the event, Squash Association of Zambia (North) Vice President and Mineral Link representative, Nsangu Karabasis, said squash extends beyond competition, playing a vital role in building friendships, discipline, mentorship, and professional networks that can create life-changing opportunities.

He also commended organisers, officials, volunteers, and sponsors for their collective effort in ensuring the success of the tournament, noting that the steady growth of squash in Zambia is driven by strong partnerships and shared commitment to developing the sport at all levels.

KCM Sports Coordinator, Fredrick Bwalya, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sports development through its CSR programme, highlighting continued support for Nchanga Racquets Club and the provision of quality squash facilities accessible to both club members and the wider community.

In the Men’s Top 32 category, Lukumba Muchimba was crowned champion, taking home the top prize of K13,000, while in the Ladies Top 16 category, Kaluba Mbewe claimed the title after a strong and consistent performance, earning K8,000.

The successful tournament underscored the ongoing commitment of the Squash Association of Zambia (SAZ), KCM, Mineral Link, and other stakeholders to promoting sports development, youth empowerment, and community engagement through sport.
